Lemonade Stand Law
Children aren’t criminals for starting their own micro business.
Allowing children to sell their goods/services without government overreach helps them gain confidence and independence in life, while helping them to provide for their family (as many families are financially tight.). Right now, Florida children are subject to whatever a police officer deems to be the law when the police are called on them. We’d like to have a clear definition in FL law that minors can operate their business without health permits, business licenses, and taxation.
This supports the “apprentice” idea in the New York Times best selling book “The Anxious Generation”, whose goal is to start implementing simple solutions to lower our children’s anxiety levels.
This law has passed in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
Interested in cleaning up FL law so this is clearly defined and/or sponsoring a bill to make this law in Florida? We have excellent language that has already passed in another state! Fill out the form below and we’ll send it right over!
